So far I absolutely love it. This is my first automatic chicken door.. the design seems to be done very well. I love how there is not a track in the bottom and gunk does not get stuck in it. It’s very durable, and I don’t see a predator being able to get in it.. I highly recommend it. One time the door didn’t open, and I was able to reset it and I haven’t had any problems since

Door works great. Now just need to find a way to keep the sparrows from going into the coop and eating the chicken’s food. An invisible force field just for little birds might be the answer lol.

Looks great. Is functioning properly and was easy to setup.

We have two of the solar doors and love them.

I already have a cozy chick door on another part of my run and it works great. I will say I love the new one so much more cause when the weather is terrible I can bring the battery pack inside and plug it into. Their customer service is also amazing.

Fast shipping and easy to use! Been using it for close to a month and so far so good.

Best chicken door ever. This is my second one. The first one never worked from the previous company. Let’s say it worked for three months. This was very easy to program and it’s insulated and haven’t had any hiccup great value. Keep it up.

I love this automatic door! It is extremely easy to install and operate. I mainly love that I don’t have to have electricity or wifi/cellular to operate the door. I highly recommend this door :)
Kelaresa C.5/5Verified
After one year we had a problem with the door closing completely and they replaced my door with a new one after we contacted them. Very happy with the customer service

Love it

So easy to install, it took me longer to remove the old automatic door than to install the chickcozy. It opens and closes when I want it to, and no chickens are getting stuck between the doors. Exactly what I needed.

The door is great you do have to let it charge up for a day or two I had to get back with them and they got back with me right away so yeah when you get the box open you better get it charged up otherwise it won't have no functions about 1 to 2 days to charge great door I have the older version this one I like better cuz you can have the controls separate off the door and the little control box with the wire I do plan on ordering another one for a backup down the road thank you for a great product I highly recommend getting this door and it's a strong door there ain't nothing going to get in it thanks again Dave

This door is everything I hoped for, solid, reliable, and completely worry free. It installed easily, runs off sunlight, and gives me peace of mind knowing my chickens are safe every night without me lifting a finger.

Very easy to install, works great so far.
David B.5/5Verified
I replaced my battery operated Chick Cozy door with the new solar powered one. Install was super easy and the door itself is of a thicker/more predator resistant material which I love. It does open wider than the previous model, which is important for anyone else doing an upgrade like myself. So far we love it, the quality is great, and my chickens are safely contained at night which makes me a happy chicken-mama!

It took a while for the package to be delivered, but once it arrived, I installed it immediately and honestly: fantastic! I recommend the chicken door to everyone.

Was the perfect door for the coop. Works wonderful and customer service is spectacular. I had an issue and they resolved it quickly and politely. It's a great door both mechanically and design. It's definitely a strong door and will keep out predators. Now if only my coop was made with the same material it would be like fort Knox. I will order more items from this company. They really have chickens in their thoughts.

Pros:
- Cable provided is decently long
- Simple menu that's easy to navigate
- Very sturdy
- Door safety mechanism prevents chicken injury from birds who don't realize it's closing on them
- Very good at recharging even on cloudy days
- Installation is literally 4 simple screws
- Cute waterproof stickers!
Cons:
- No backup battery option
- No cable extension options
- No easy way to check battery level
Very easy to set up, pretty much worked out the box without having to fiddle with settings. So far after about 2 weeks of use, it's accurately opened and closed with the default light levels it came with. Installation was a breeze with just 1 screw in each corner being enough to keep it securely fastened.
The panel UI is simple, operating on just two arrow keys and an OK button. The menus are easy to understand. My only gripe is the difficulty in finding the battery level. It seems like it flashes the current battery level for a few seconds upon initial wakeup, but there's no other way to manually check it after that screen appears other than letting the device go to standby mode again. Holding OK for 3 seconds opens or closes the door manually - though part of me wishes there was an independent manual operation button but that's very minor and probably not worth the space on the minimalistic design.
My primary concern is lack of battery backup options. Even though it charges well now, even under cloudy conditions, I fear that over time the solar panel may charge less; or a particularly nasty week of cloudiness may cause problems. I've obviously yet to run into these issues yet, but it would be relieving to have a contingency option for worse case scenario.
It's only a downside because I love this door and would hate to have to replace it a few years down the line should battery or charging efficiency deteriorate (as any rechargeable battery device is expected to).
Additionally, it would be nice if an optional extension cable was sold. The provided cable is decently long enough on its own, but the cable feeds out to the direction opposite of where I get optimal sunlight. My coop is also under tarps to protect it against the elements, so I have to extend the cable out quite far to get sun exposure. The result is I have an awkwardly positioned cable hanging over my coop, but if I had an additional 3 feet or so to work with I could neatly manage it. That said, the panel was able to work well even under the tarp so could have fit well on the side of my coop. But my decision to move it was to ensure it's always charged so I don't get surprised one morning by grumpy chickens still closed in their coop.
Overall I still rate this 4 stars. It's a lovely door. Works as advertised, sturdy, and low maintenance. Sell us an extension cable and panel that has an optional fallback AA battery compartment and this is upgraded to 5 stars.

seems Ok. Although the doors (left mostly) looks 'cocked' when opened (like it doesn't open squarely). It might be Ok, not sure that affects anything, - might just have to do with how the gears/track is designed.
On the Solar, it doesn't ever seem to charge up all the way. When it is charging, it displays "charging X1->5", and that feature is really nice. However, the state of the battery charge is hidden, - it is not in the menu anywhere. To display the 4-bar battery state of charge display, you have to completely cover up the little solar panel (with your palm), then the 4-bar battery state of charge indicator come up, but it flashes with ALL 4 bars lit for a second, then it goes to displaying the 'actual' charge (which in my case, it only 3-bars.) One week+ in bright sunlight, it I can't get it to display all 4 bars.
On dusk-to-dawn, I can't seem to get it to close as "early" as I'd like. It closes when it's too dark. The light level is 0->99 with 99 being full light, and I have to set to "80", and it's still too dark out when it finally closes. Also, it seems it won't let me select a light level higher than "80", - it limits the close light level based on what light level you have selected for the opening.
The menu's seem clumsy (battery voltage indication, open/close light level settings just to name a few).
My career is designing micro controllers for a living, and I actively design many Aurduino, PIC chicp, and ESP-32 based controllers, and I know how easy it is to design a better system (menu-wise). There are many ideas to get past the hard limits on open vs. close light levels (hysteresis).
The pine chips seem to accumulate in the groove on the left-hand door, but it's too new to see if this is going to be a problem. I also think I installed the door too low in the coop. I don't remember what hte instructions say, but I'm going to have to move the hole in the side of the coop up an inch or so, so that the chips don't build up around the base of the door (from the inside) while the door is closed. The chickens seem to want to scratch and kick up chips against the inside of the door. But again, it's really a installation issue.
There are a couple of controller/display issues that could be improved upon. If the company has the ability to make software changes, let me know. Long term, I might just make my own controller (With an Aurdino), and then offer the code/project as open source for others to try (if they want). This might even improve your sales, because I would offer a complete kit (along with the software) for folks to gut the board that is in there, and replace it with my controller board.
Thanks for asking for feedback.

I have just been using the solar door for a couple weeks now but I absolutely love it so far! And so do my chickens. It opens and closes smoothly and doesn't get stuck. The solar panel charges even on partly cloudy days and it holds a charge for days. Very easy to install. I love the options to set the door to open and close. I hope it holds up because I love!

Love it. Made a few modifications to the coop to make sure it’s flush due the prefab coops door frame. After that it was super simple. Works without a glitch. Our girls always go in before dark so we haven’t had anyone locked out yet.

Easy install, easy directions, and working great.

I love how simple and straight forward the set up was. It’s strong and durable even with all the sand in our area.

I've always used the regular up and down automatic chicken doors, but I bought a new coop and discovered this was not going to be possible on this one! So I searched online and found the chickcozy, and I have to say, it was the miracle I needed to add an reliable automatic door to my coop.
I love the sturdy and solid design. It's easy to install even in tricky places. The solar power is an extra plus. And I love how the operation panel can be placed anywhere, making it so I don't have to bend myself into tight places to operate the door manually. I would even consider the chickcozy for other coops now, because it's simply so easy to use and install.

Had problem with my cord breaking in the solar panel battery. Told them and they send me a whole new replacement.z 10/10 customer service. Don’t expect that just asked for new panel was all.
Walter M.5/5Verified
The door is too small. Which is probably not a reason to give you one start. In all fairness it does seem well made. How do I return this?
Jim A.1/5Verified
I thought I ordered one that had a battery backup but it doesn't have that. I contacted Mason in customer service and he explained that a fully charged solar battery will last and operate for a much longer time than what I need. So I'm going to install it and see what happens. I'm expecting a good experience.

This is my second coop and second chick cozy door, and I love it. I love the fact that there’s no rim or ledge at the bottom for snow or ice or rain to get stuck in or poop ,very well designed super easy to install fit right into my tractor supply guardian coop doorway with an additional frame of wood that I put on the inside to screw it to . I love the door.
